About Me...Hello,
My name is Mr. Cress. I am the 6th grade Math teacher at Duquesne City Schools in Pittsburgh, PA. I have two younger siblings, a brother Alex, and a sister Victoria. My brother wants to go to school to design video games, and my sister is also a teacher, but she teachers younger kids. I graduated from Columbus Grove High School, which is a small school in Northwestern Ohio. While I was in high school, I was a three-time district qualifier in wrestling. I was in our award-winning marching band. |
I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher, so when I graduated I went off to college at Bowling Green State University to get my teaching degree. While I was at BGSU, I was involved with a lot of on campus activities. I was a four-year member of the Falcon Marching Band (which played at all home football games) and also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, the national honorary band fraternity. I completed my degree and graduated college in May of 2013. The picture at the top of the page is me after graduation. |
After I graduated in May, I got married to my wife Dana in June of 2013. Together we moved to Oxford, Ohio where we lived with our two cats. While living in Oxford I taught at North College Hill Jr. High. After she graduated with her masters degree in history, we moved to be closer to the Columbus Area, and I taught 5th grade at Riverside Elementary, where I was also the assistant band director, musical director and the head wrestling coach.
Eventually my wife got a job in Pittsburgh, so I finished the school year at Riverside, and we moved to Mt. Washington, again with our two cats Ernest Hemmingway and Stella. Now, I am pleased to be teaching 6th grade math to the wonderful students of Duke City!
